Onion tarte flambée "Maitre"
The very tasty answer to the traditional onion tart
Ingredients for one tarte flambée:
- 1 Tarte flambée base
- Approx 100g tarte flambée crème (or alternatively crème fraiche flavored with our tarte flambée seasoning Maître Flambée Café de Strasbourg)
- 1 vegetable onion cut into fine rings
- Approx 50g diced bacon
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp butter/oil
- Caraway seeds to taste
- Freshly chopped parsley to garnish after baking
In a shallow saucepan, heat a knob of butter and some oil over medium heat. Add the onion rings, bacon, a pinch of salt and a little cumin and saute until the onions are translucent. Now let the onion and bacon mixture cool down. Mix the tarte flambée cream, the egg and the cooled onion-bacon mixture. Take a Flammkuchen base and cover it with the mixture. Leave a margin of about 1 cm. Bake the tarte flambée until it is lightly browned. Garnish with parsley and caraway seeds. Traditionally, tarte flambée is served cut into pieces on a wooden board.
